Fair play to the lads. There might be an Oscar nod in it for Colm.
I’m glad he won, he’s really good in the movie, weird movie for me though, all the performances were very good but story wise it didnt really grab me, might be one those films that I end up enjoying after a few viewings
BBC Breakfast film critic Emily Murray just said “Isn’t it great to see a British film win so many [awards]”. I’m fuming 😤
I watched this few weeks ago and thought it was horrendous. Actually I didn’t watch it to the end because it was just so utterly boring and uninteresting.
It seems to be made for yanks who’ll look at the nice scenery and listen to the mannerism and the accents and think it was different.
Really enjoyed the movie but the last thing I would call it is a comedy…
Glad it’s getting awards but I watched it last night and it’s a bit boring, lovely scenery but lacks a proper story
Anyone know what the budget was for this movie?
For those that like this . I highly recommend Garage with Pat short ,
It’s not a comedy in case your thinking . Very emotional
I’m a huge movie fan, this movie was seriously bad. Worst movie I’ve ever seen in my life.
Film had its moments, but it was overall very weird. I had to do a bit of googling to realise the whole thing was an analogy for the Irish civil war
Nice to see I guess. Remember these awards don’t mean shit.
Well deserved the awards, I thought it was a great movie. Saw it in cinema and watched it again over Christmas, was nearly better actually watching it the 2nd time
The Banshees of Inisherin was ok, but it definitely didn’t deserve best picture, musical, comedy. I wouldn’t call it different as well, depressed old guys, welcome to the north. At the end it kinda felt really pretentious after the shock factor died down.
Edit: the acting was definitely top notch, but the story and plot was just ok. They also mislead movie goers that it was going to be a dark comedy, which it definitely wasn’t.
Saw on another thread people were talking about how obvious the movie was a metaphor for civil war. Just wanted to say myself and another English friend didn’t have a clue. We’re both well educated and did history at A lvl but Ireland wasn’t a topic. We both thought wtf is this movie about and why he’s chopping fingers off.
The explanations made the movie make so much more sense!
