  1. She isn’t a elected politician in NI/UK so she didn’t get invited. Michelle O’Neill was.

A technically for being a party in 2 countries but if Mary Lou wants to have a say on internal UK politics as a UK polticaian she should run in the North.

  2. Just shows the ignorance of the brits, cleverlys team turn up and say that Mary lou can’t go and only let them know last night, paying no heed to how bad it’ll look to the nationalist side

  3. I’ve got a poll up on r/northernireland asking whether SF should co-opt Mary Lou into a seat for 48 hours.

The Brits only do what suits them. Time to start using their rules against them

  4. If they are one party with one leader then did they say they were two separate entities when that fella died and left the. A heap of money, why don’t they submit the donation that fella left to them in the republic…. They can’t have it both ways.

  5. It seems perfectly clear: this is a meeting for Stormont politicians to talk to their Westminster counterparts. As they point out, it would be undiplomatic to meet the leader of the Dublin opposition before meeting the Dublin government politicians, so Mary-Lou has to wait until that happens. I have no doubt that she’ll be able to say her piece once the Taoiseach has been involved, although it would be unusual for the opposition to be included. Basically she’s not an elected representative in the UK, so she’s overstepping her role.

Edit: All the shinners terrified of the truth voting this down …

  6. She’s not an elected representative in Northern Ireland and not a member of the government of Ireland.
    She has no place there.

  7. No need for Mary Lou to be there
Michelle is the northern leader let her get on with it.

I remember back in the day Gerry used to pop into Stormont now and again when he was a TD always puzzled me that one.

  8. Honestly Mary Lou shouldn’t be in those meetings.

Brits have a point. It undermines Stormont and local elected officials as well as undermining Dublin. Basically we have our representatives down south. Not that this sub likes them that much but Sinn Fein isn’t in power right now and shouldn’t be trying to undermine the elected government in Dublin when it comes to the UK and the north. I suppose I just don’t like political parties working cross border.

  9. Judging by the large amounts of downvotes and few actual posts in support it’s clear the SF digital media crew/bots are out in force
