Primary School teachers low-paid?
Welcome to 25 years ago.
I was foolish to go into that profession then.
Had some idealistic view of “improving children’s lives” or something silly like that.
Full disclosure: I live in the US – but in, at the time, like the 2nd-highest paying state for teachers (where all teachers were required to get a Master’s degree)
I’m fortunate I got out 5 years ago and used my Mathematics degree for something less stressful, and obviously better-paying.
All the love in the world to them, but it’s been a low-paying position for decades, and that’s not changing any time soon.
Good – the offer the Scottish government has made is shit – continued under inflation raises and even lower raises for upper band teachers – there is already a lack of teachers willing to be department heads because the pay for the added work is minimal and these offers continue to stunt the pay scale – fuck the Scottish government (obviously and Westminster as well but this is a Scottish government issue here)
