Paracetamol and ibuprofen most common substances linked to poisonings

  1. I’m not surprised, paracetamol in particular is easy to OD on – lemsip contains 500mg of it, and when you are sick you knock that shit back.

People also tend to be idiots and will just keep taking painkillers “until they work”.

    > Among other common items which led to poisoning incidents were sachets of fabric cleaner, hand cleanser, multivitamins, detergent, sodium Hypochlorite, sertraline, and antiseptic.

“Sachets of fabric cleaner”, so… “Tide pods” as the yanks call em.

Hand cleanser – yep, I’ve heard of people drinking hand sanitizer. Its not the good kind of alcohol, ya gobshites.

Multivitamins: look like sweets, some *are* basically sweets.

    Detergent: children.

Sodium hypochlorite (bleach): again, seems to be a magnet for dumb children. For example, my brother years ago.

Sertraline: I know of a few accidental overdoses, people forgetting if they took their dose already. Also know of some deliberate ones, side effects can include serious suicidal ideation.

Antiseptic: again, people sometimes try drink it.

  2. I mean the reality is any list like this is just a list of the most available potentially poisonous substances.

In this case top three are over the counter pain relief and booze.
Worth people having a bit of discipline with the painkillers though especially with that nasty flu going around.
4 hours between doses folks. Give your kidneys/liver a chance

Also hypothetically if you like an energy drink or two stay clear of paracetamol max. The caffeine on top of what your already doing is going to be entertaining for about 60s as the world slows down then you’re going to feel like your hearts going to blow.

Not that I’d have personal experience of not reading the label…
