  1. > “he grabbed hold of her breasts and put his face between them, an action referred to as motorboating”.

  2. If it was consensual and he was off duty this is completely over the top. If it wasn`t surely he should be charged with a sex offence.

  3. Police officer sacked for **sexually assaulting*** woman on dancefloor of Newcastle nightclub.

    FTFY, Sky News.

  4. And to think that we are already struggling to recruit officers with decent moral standards. If this is the type that are getting through now then we will have already plumbed the dregs of society. The lad culture seen in some forces is going to be impossible to remove without firing almost all the officers. God knows how we would then recruit more officers when this is the reputation police officers currently have.

  5. The action was found to be ‘not malicious or sexual’. Fired due to gross misconduct though.

The article even demonstrates that there are two different stories here. The lady claimed that the officer actually touched/motorboated her, while the officer claims that he did something else (something about jazz hands, I assume trying to be funny as a reaction to her removing her shirt).

Going on what the article says (which may not be the full story of course) the officer has not committed a crime or even done anything particularly wrong. Sacked for gross misconduct, no notice.

  6. Good, they deserve to be sacked and disciplined. Most motorboats have exposed propellers spinning at high speed and can be extremely dangerous – that’s why you should never have a the engine running if there’s people in the water. Motorboats have no place in crowded venues, especially ones that have bad lighting, loud music and a propendency for people consuming alcohol.

  7. Critical piece of info missing here…. Was she game, or did he just go up to come random woman? Wouldn’t surprise me either way and I’m not jumping in this till we know

  8. Motorboating – this is the first time I’ve heard of this term relating to sexual assault. Is this really common or what?

    >The officer states that someone to his left made some comment about Ms A’s breasts. After
this he stepped towards Ms A and held up his hands in front of her and moved them in a jazzing
type manner. He mimicked touching her breasts and said in interview that he acted the tit and
was trying to be funny in front of the group.
Ms A then slapped him hard. He took hold of her wrist and placed her arm up her back to stop
her slapping him again and she said to him “You need to be careful I like it rough”. He also
had his other arm across her shoulder. Nothing else was said between them. This was a
continuation of her flirtatious behaviour. They continued to dance together. He did not mention
anything about the event to anyone else or have any other conversation about it.
Ms A states that the officer did approach her but he grabbed hold of her breasts and put his face
between them, an action referred to as motorboating. She immediately slapped him hard. She
did not say anything to him. He did take hold of her arm behind his back. She also stated in her
evidence to us that he took hold of her throat. She did not mention the event to anyone at the
time and did not have any other conversations about it until later with her boyfriend

  10. Vague article. Still seems weird an action outside your work affects your work. Specially when not charged.

There has to be something else

  11. These comments are like Wayne couzens’ group chat. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
