having lived in both countries for years i do worry that the culture shock for many hong kongers will leave them feeling miserable – it’s why most of my friends who have fled HK went straight to taiwan but even that is expected to be taken by china within the next decade

For an “Anti immigrant” party they sure love bringing in Immigrants 20,000 afghans at least that many illegals and now 88,0000 hk and people say that labour are bad?
Gentle reminder that despite the tories saying how much they love Hong Kong and it’s citizens, they’re the ones who pulled up the drawbridge, changes British citizenship laws and told them to fuck off in the first place to prevent a “flood of Chinese” swamping the British isles.
People who wanted to leave the upcoming Chinese tyranny were prevented from doing so explicitly because of this, and now it’s having to be done after the fact to the detriment of all involved since China is making it difficult for them.
