This is of course the Tories end goal, private hospitals much like those in the US. Many Tories have dreamedand d written about this outcome, they want nothing less than the destruction of the NHS and welfare state.
This one is perfectly reasonable and is exactly the same as Labour’s proposal to use private provision to free up capacity. Ultimately the only way to get more carers to support people in their homes is to pay carers significantly more money which means more money for councils.
With Overweight and Obesity nearly doubling to over 60% since 1980, maybe it is time to get healthy. That will save the NHS.
Just think. How many MPs own, or are part of care homes? Yet even more money to Syphon from the taxpayer into their own pockets
Conservatives decrease beds by 50k over the past 12 years….then go begging for beds, couldn’t write it.
This is a sticking plaster that will eventually backfire….. people will be discharged into these rapidly because “there’s care there”, but the caters there won’t have any kind of medical skill set, so will call 111/999 at every oppurtunity and ambulances will be sent who will inevitably take the patients back to hospital for failed discharges.
They need to address the issues with community care and set thresholds for how long we’re pointlessly keeping people alive.
Fundamentally all this system will do is rotate people continuously around different organisations, while making the NHS giving more money to large private companies rather than properly funding councils to provide the care they’re supposed to be providing under the Health and Social Care Act.
We need more d2a and off-site beds.
So often a patient is med fit and bed blocking because they’re waiting on service finding (be that a package of care, a supported living placement, a care home etc) when we should be able to go “okay fab you’ve finished your hospital treatment, go and wait here til you get to the care home because we need the bed”. Instead they get stuck in limbo
This will help free NHS beds, but I work in Care and the industry is short by around 150,000 front line workers – I don’t think capacity is there
