Well, that’s what people are *supposed* to do, but it doesn’t always happen. Strictly speaking the cars on the right are too far over and are blocking the hard shoulder, but I guess there wasn’t any other way of doing it on this stretch of road.
Yes called Rettungsgasse. You‘re reuguiredto do this by law. If you hinder an ambulance because you failed to make way you‘ll get into deep trouble (and rightfully so).
The thing that always bugs me about this clip is that the car they are filming from is clearly not making way. I mean, how dumb can you be to say “Oh, look, how great!” and then not do the same as everyone else? I hope he lost his side mirror.

Wow that’s the most impressive Rettungsgasse on a three lane street I have seen. Usually you have that space between the left and the middle lane.
And then you still have some assholes to follow them at high speed.
I work in germany ems. Never seen this happen ONCE. Not once did it work
