I actually wonder where our use of the word has come from because I’m so set in my ways that I was once on holiday in Spain and asked the lady where can I get minerals 3 or 4 times completely forgetting other words to describe what I was talking about existed so now I use the brand names or names like fizzy drinks or soft drink but I still stick to minerals 99% of the time

To me they were always ‘fizzy drinks’. Minerals is what my very rural grandad called them.
Soda ? …. nah.

Fizzy Pop ? … yeah.
The “mineral” and “soda” folk need to get busy with the fizzy and move into the 21st century.
