> Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki signaled on Monday that he expects Germany to quickly grant its approval to send Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine.
>
> NATO-member Poland intends to deliver a “company” of German-made Leopard 2 tanks as part of a coordinated effort among allies. Any decision would require approval from Berlin, which the Polish government has persistently criticized for being slow in backing Ukraine with heavy weaponry.
>
> “We need to have consent” from Germany, Morawiecki told a news conference in Warsaw, before flying to Berlin for meetings with politicians there. “But I cannot imagine that this approval will not be given quickly.”
>
> Germany is about to take a decision on transferring the tanks this week, as European allies assess how to help the government in Kyiv in the event fighting builds in the spring, according to two officials familiar with the government’s thinking.
>
> “I call on the German government to act decisively by delivering all types of armaments to Ukraine,” Morawiecki later told an audience in Berlin. “Today, Ukrainians are fighting not only for their freedom, but also in defense of Europe.”
>
> His comments come as Russia and Belarus are scheduled to hold two weeks of joint air force drills from Jan. 16 until Feb. 1. Morawiecki warned on Saturday that a new Russian offensive on Ukraine and its capital launched from neighboring Belarus is a “real risk,” echoing recent statements from Ukrainian officials.
Hmm, seems like they could do that, they only need to ask
poor polish government seems to be so busy talking to the media that they just cant find the time to actually file the request.
I am unclear about this but why do they need permission? do they fear that they wont have replacement tanks from Germany?
Never pass a chance to blame someone else…ask FFS
The germans have spoken. They would in no time agree to send the tanks to ukraine but they just cant coz stupid poles play games and wont send the paper. Probably they changed their mindes after meeting another polish jogger who, this time, supported the idea.
Is there actually any way to be 100% sure that Poland sent official request for Leopards transfer? I mean like actual government website with full scan of official document and official scan of the German government answer. Or is it based on only politicians words? Because now I don’t know if it’s Polish gov talking bs or German gov talking bs about not receiving a request from Poland.
There’s a conference on friday in Ramstein to debate about further deliveries of weapons, but of course Poland can’t wait or simply file a ln official request to Germany for the allowance of exporting Leo2s.
Probably Poland is still waging for compensation and beside several experts believe most polish Leo2 have to undergo some maintenance in Germany first…
Just for further information:
>“We need to have consent” from Germany, Morawiecki told a news conference in Warsaw, before flying to Berlin for meetings with politicians there.
>The PM was taking part in celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the political activity of Wolfgang Schaeuble, a CDU politician and former chairman of the Bundestag, the lower house of the German parliament.
I hate that the bloomberg article is vague on purpose to make the unassuming reader think the Polish PM is meeting with the people in government that have any say in the matter (economy minister Habeck), instead he is going to a fine gala event…
Don’t get the hate from both sides, sounds like he went to Germany to actually communicate for a change and said that he is confident Germany will approve once asked. Maybe that’s some proper framing from Bloomberg but I cannot even see a new accusation, which the Polish side was never shy to do. Only the reiteration of past criticism, from the author mind you.
Morawiecki furthermore asked that we too try to deliver whatever possible (captain obvious, nothing controversial either) and as fast as possible (again, obvious phrases, everyone says something similar).
It’s honestly, for Polish standards, a great course of action.

Seems like typical polish posturing
SO you need to ask, like in formally ask.
Seems poland is playing games again.

Is not him meeting with Scholz. He is meeting with the opposition party, still dancing around actually requesting official export permission. [From pro-government TVP](https://tvpworld.com/65684151/im-calling-on-the-german-govt-to-supply-all-arms-types-to-ukraine-polish-pm):

OP seems to have issues though.
