I thought the Christmas lunch I had for free(!!!) today was poor, this is absolutely ridiculous for the pupils who had to a) pay for it and b) eat it. I hope the parents/children are reimbursed
Thousands of children will go with a meal on Xmas day. This really isn’t that bad.
School apologises… after it’s caught, same old patterns.
God I hate the excuses.
Covid meant you couldn’t make a gravy or do some spuds?

You really have to wonder at what exactly went wrong in the decision making process here. Did nobody from the caterers wonder if something was missing from the school’s order? Did nobody at the school wonder if something was missing?
Should have seen the Chartwells meal, a single Sprout and the remains of the 2020 party scraps.
Apologizes…?!?! Look those damn children in the eye and tell them they don’t deserve this and you don’t deserve them
Somebody approved this an as idea, it’s not like it was done by accident because of an issue getting in supplies.
The excuse is just an utter lies. Unforeseen covid issues – bollocks. We’ve been living with covid for what feels like an eternity now, if you fail to make a plan B and even plan C, that’s not unforeseen, that’s just lazy ignorance. I reckon I could put together a better meal for a school single handedly (roast a fuck tonne of carrots and make a lot of instant gravy and that would have made this somewhat more acceptable).
Went to a grammar school myself and from my experience they just care about money. Ffs we were fed things like mushroom crumble
“The school initially defended the meal in an email to parents, claiming “the overall feedback from students was that they really enjoyed it and this was evidenced by the empty plates and happy faces”, adding that there would be no refunds.
But after images of the meal went viral on Twitter, the school sent out a further email offering parents an unreserved apology and refund.”
Well, we got there in the end. What would be a novel approach would be to stop this kind of nonsense from happening in the first place, rather than first doubling down on the “failure = triumph” narrative, and only capitulating once social media and public pressure is involved.
Wait, does this academy trust also run the government?
