  1. you need to give us a synopsis or a brief description of the game

  2. Depends on what kind of game it is. I personally didn’t enjoy “The war of mine”, even though it has some great reviews

  3. If the game was really good, sure, but Polish World War II games are very weak, for example Land of War – The Beginning, Enemy Front…

  4. No, I am bored with everything in culture revolving around WW2 or JP2.

  5. No, occupied Warsaw in WW2 is not fun and games. We can do it in abstract enviroments like This War of Mine, but turning real graveyard of Polish civilians into virtual playground is a desacration.

  6. Well WWII Warsaw is a hard yopic for video games.

In most cases it would be either an uninteresting failure, an ahistoric to the point of people cringing or down right depressing.

Where I could see an interesting idea (generally, this is not my type of game) is putting some kind of economic-ish strategy game, where you run a shop despite the shortages, or an underground hospital.

  7. TBH it doesn’t matter where and when the game happens. If it’s garbage then it will stay garbage no matter what and vice versa.

If you’re talking about FPS – too many same shit in this reality so I’ll assume it won’t get a lot of traction if it won’t introduce any extraordinary game mechanics.

If it’s a RTS – long time we haven’t got anything relatable so this might be a hit. If you introduce cool story, non repetitive gameplay and some unseen mechanics from that genre.

I could write a ton more but the baseline is – games are becoming repetitive with only the visuals changing so if you won’t introduce some new mechanics, game features or anything then you shouldn’t expect it to be successful.

Edit: judging by the image you’ve posted I wouldn’t expect anything good. Looks like something that would be done in a day by somoen that knows how to use UE5, Unity or CE3. So if that took you more than a week I would reevaluate the whole concept, arts and coding.

  8. TBH I don’t understand why WW2 don’t focus on Poland.Biggest example – Battlefield. I believe V was about WW2, but for some reason no Polish maps…

  9. of course, especially if I can win the Warsaw Uprising and have a reborn II Polish Republic

  10. Depends on the genre. RTS? Totally. Singleplayer story driven FPS? Sure. A multiplayer pvp fps? Unlikely.

  11. It would be a cool game but story must be a bad ending. There just isn’t any possibility for a good ending in a place that was completly destroyed and thousands died.

  12. I would love to see a horror game set in occupied Warsaw during World War II

  13. It has potential and if done properly yes. It also would have to NOT be a same game different genre scenario

  14. No. My favourite are fantasy or sci-fi worlds.

  15. No. The concept is well meaning but I think it’s still too soon to exploit this terrible piece of history in a game environment. But if you are truly serious about making this game with the historical context in the forefront I’d advise reading Rising ’44 The Battle for Warsaw by Norman Davies which is the most comprehensive and detailed account of the events in Warsaw during WWII and also happens to be an engrossing read.

Another commenter here spoke of making a game about 9/11 and how well that would go down by comparison. I think a better comparison would be to make a game about Auschwitz or Majdanek (which although less well known was even more brutal in terms of deaths and numbers of prisoners…almost 200k…)

The point is that Warsaw was utterly wiped off the map and the fact that the Poles rebuilt their beautiful buildings from old photos and plans is an absolute credit to them. Why focus on a story that ends in the murder of countless innocents (especially during a time when similar violence against civilians is happening in real time in Ukraine?) as a game. No matter how you dress it up the player will always lose and any investor is going to say no. People don’t want to play through all permutations of a game only to die every single time.

If you really want to make a game about Warsaw in WWII please let players know that they will be experiencing a game where they can only fail. Who knows maybe some people will find it interesting. Good luck and I do applaud your desire to raise awareness of what was done to Warsaw in WWII because it is a piece of history that is very sorely neglected on the world stage of historical memory and deserves to be known.

  16. Depends on the genre of the game, if the game will be in the style of simulation and city building, or rather reconstruction, then I could play. But if it’s a fighting game, then unfortunately not, I hear too much about it every day to still play it. Although on the other hand, a role-playing game would be great.

  17. So a war crime simulator? That’s sounds pretty tasteless.

11bit Games might be able to make an adult game about the subject matter, but I think it’s smarter to use an abstract environment.

  18. I would, just because I like playing games of places I’ve been and being like “I know that building!”. One of the many things I loved about Fallout 3, New Vegas and 4. Does that make me a bad person?
