Man’s body may have lain in Cork house for two decades

  1. Seriously depressing story that.

Known recluse ‘dissappears’ and people assume they’ve just moved, board up the cottage and forget about it for more than 20 years.

  2. He must have had an income of some sort, whether that was wages, unemployment benefit or a pension. He did not live on fresh air, somebody must have noticed he didn’t show up for his money. Even if he had a private income in a bank someone somewhere must have missed him.

  3. So they’re saying this house was boarded up without anyone looking inside the house? I find that very hard to believe. If it’s true, it’s fucking terrifying. Imagine how the lads who boarded the place up feel now.

  4. This is a depressing story, but how the hell does a building get boarded up, labelled derelict and go untouched for 20 years? Especially in a so called “lovely community”?

Should councils not be doing a check on properties like this at some point before 20 years?

  5. What does it mean when they say people are really sad and upset? I mean the neighbours, it’s not like they were checking on him. Bit late to be sad and upset isn’t it.

  6. Dreams of aLife is a documentary about the same thing happening to a woman in London. She was dead for 3 years before she was found, and her TV and heating were still on. It’s really good but incredibly sad.

  7. Vsauce covered this topic of people going missing before. Most the time people just presume you’ve moved on to somewhere else
