Mortimer gegen Brown. Former and current German students, Which of these titanic textbook is better to study chemistry and why? I have money to buy only one

  1. The Mortimer is often a standard in many universities. Worked well. Which one does your university suggest?

  2. I have both and used both in the past but always preferred Mortimer over Brown. Other Pearson works are great, like Bruice’s book on organic chem, but I’ve always seemed to prefer Mortimer over Brown.

  3. Prof described Mortimer as the “Bildzeitung der Chemie”: Easy to understand and has nice pictures.

This is now like 20 years ago, so people will probably freak out today but I think easy to understand with nice pictures is still accurate enough of a description.
