Hey! So – I’ve been reading about fixing your own radiators on different subs. After trying to get my landlord/complex owners to fix our radiators (3/5 radiators in the apartment arent fully working), with months of waiting for responds and no help, I decided to troubleshoot them myself. The reason is, we have mould building up in our bedroom. We keep removing it but obviously there’s a deeper issue. I think if I can fix my radiator in the bedroom it’ll help to dry out the wall & the warmer room will keep the fungi from growing.

The radiator in the berdoom is the one also posted on the pictures. All of our radiators look like this. The issue with it is that it’s 100% not working. It doesn’t warm at all & neither pipes gain no heat either. My plan was to first remove the cap where you increase/decrease heat, but I am worried that I’ll fuck something up. I am here to check if anyone has expereince with the same ones and can guide.
On the 3d photo: do I unscrew it to loosen the cap? Or is there a special trick to get it off? I am worried that it might cause some leak if I do it without preperation.
Also, any other tip for troubleshooting specifically this radiator would be much appreciated. 🙂

on the top right corner is the ventilation. Open that a bit to let the air out. That should do the trick. (turn the heater fully on while doing this)

send a letter to the landlord , and give them 7 days to fix the issue, or you’ll reduce the rent with 25% . let us know if that does the trick.
i would refrain any actions if you don’t know what you’re doing….especially if the pipes do not get any heat at all.
other thing you can do , is to hire someone who deals with that , pay the invoice and ask the landlord to refund your repair works (but again this looks like a bigger problem when the pipes do not get heat at all)
