Hi all! Hoping someone can help me understand this. My wife’s family shipped us a box of Xmas gifts, along with some of our personal belongings from the US.
The declared value on the customs form is $200, but when my wife went to DHL to pick up the package, she was charged 88,57 € for Zoll — why is it so much?
I thought it was usually around 20% or so, so we were shocked at the number. When we entered the country we only paid a little over 100 € for a laptop, and that was worth more than twice the contents of this box.
[Image of the package](https://imgur.com/a/VMqPDvd) for reference. What are we missing?

I suppose it was declared incorrectly or the Zoll clerk did not agree with the declaration of $200 and therefore charged you more. Impossible to judge with that little info you gave us though
the tax fare is changing, it depends on what kind of goods are into the package. Shipping costs come on Top.
When U search for the specific Taric-Codes (Zolltarifnummer) U can Look how much taxes U habe to pay for the Art of goods…
