Sunak and the Tories just detest trans people. Starmer et al. view us as nothing more than pawns he can throw away in the culture war and know nobody will care because “he needs to be electable!”.
She’s absolutely right.
It’s absolute madness that not only have the UK government opted to use section 35 for the first, ever, time to block a Trans rights Bill.
But also that Trans people make up less than 0.1% of the population.
From the way politicians and the media bang on you’d think they were everywhere.
They picked one of the longest ways to object, and specifically didn’t raise concerns until after the bill passed.
This is Sunak focusing on the next election, “vote for Tories or labor will let in that nasty horrible bill that outlaws being a woman”.
250,000 people identified as trans in the last census, that is how many people the Tories are determined to scapegoat for their own means. All trans people want is easier access to the right treatment and to live a life free from discrimination, those are hardly unreasonable requests. They do not want to be the centre of attention like this, they are effectively being forced to be so the Tories can appear to care about women and traditional gender roles.
Less than 0.38% of the UK is trans according to the latest census… Yet it occupies nearly 100% of the air time of all major parties.
These issues are so absurdly marginal in the grand scheme of things I don’t understand why something like this matters? So what if they change the tick box on their forms?!
They wont get involved with strikes but will get involved with Scotland’s gender recognition certification system.
“Won’t somebody think of the children?” They cry as children go hungry at school.
Bro half the country is on strike and can’t afford heating or food I don’t give a flying fuck about the laws passed by Scotland regarding trans people!
It takes a month to see a GP !
We could probably accuse Sturgeon of exactly the same.
The Tories are going to get trans people attacked and maybe even killed by members of the public if they keep up this hate campaign. It’s a really dangerous game they’re playing demonizing a marginalized group like this to score political points.
