How many more cases like this do we need before the police deal with this issue? These perverts seem to be able to hide in plain sight in the force and use the powers the state gives them for their own perverted ends. There needs to be some resignations. If colleagues and superiors knew about this and did nothing then they should be tried themselves.
Fucking hell. That is a lot of sexual offences.
I’m lost for words.

I’m genuinely fucking dumbfounded how the failure of the police can be this complete and *still* see claims that London is one of the safest cities in the world.
What an absolutely horrible person. I hope his days in prison are long and his victims are able to move forward with their lives. Rape is such an intrusive and devestating crime. I’m impressed that the Police were able to collate sufficient evidence to get this monster to plead guilty *(A lot of rapes go unproven)*. I’m with everyone else that the Police need to see where he could have been spotted sooner to stop this happening again.
Nothing will be done, Tories seek to privatise Police to be their own protest dismemberment units, which, is easier if you have people deprived of any morals in your team. So don’t expect police to get any better I am afraid
“Judge Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb warned him that if he fails to attend
then she will consider it a serious matter and displaying a lack of
remorse.” BBC
He is free to walk the streets??????
Yet another reason to add to the list of reasons you cannot and should not trust the police
Police policing police, wtf did you think was going to happen. The black community has always told you about police, but most people said we played “race card”.
Nine times his behaviour was brought to the Met’s attention prior to Oct 2021, 9 fucking times. Maybe he wouldn’t have been able to assault and rape later if something had been done one of those 9 times.
Someone at the Met needs to be held accountable for this.
Is this why the commissioner was complaining about it being too hard to fire bad cops the other day?

I’m not surprised at all first Wayne cousins then this, more and more are gonna come out.
Lock em up with the general population in prison.
He was committing offences before joining the met in 2001. The met’s vetting process is broken. One offence of bitting a woman’s shoulder was during his probation period, so if the met had taken it seriously he’d would have been sacked at that point.
As someone who works for the Met, this is truly embarrassing and undermines the good work that the Met does do.
It is incredible that vetting (most recently vetted in 2017) and his line management repeatedly cleared him after 9 incidents were reported to them.
The Police Regulations urgently need to change to remove clearly unsuitable people such as David Carrick from remaining as police officers.
I’m just going to cross-post what I put on the r/london comments:
Can we get a “days since met officer has commited committed crime” counter on the banner image?
I swear to god the met range from useless to evil, and nothing in between. Every time I’ve ever interacted with them they’ve been on the scale from useless to evil, nothing ever positive.
Serious note – this must qualify for a whole life order? He needs to spend 23 hours a day in a cell.
Blimey, not another rotten apple operating undetected for twenty odd years.
I wonder what his amusing canteen nickname is?
The Met missed ‘opportunities’ to pick up on his behaviour. Like the 9 fucking times people made complaints about him.
I’m starting to think the Met really does have a massive issue 😂
If you read the details of the case, the situation is far far worse.
He told some of the women he abused that the police wouldn’t believe him, and after a few women actually did file complaints, that was indeed the case…
So, is anyone out there really still gonna defend Cressida Dick? All the bollocks about her being bullied by Sadiq while she presided over this shit show? Utter scum.
So based on the current state of policing and the conduct, I guess officer carrick will be getting a big promotion?
Admits 24 rapes but 48 is the number he is accused of. How does someone get away with this for 18 years when victims were actually reporting him?
And yet again it’s proven to us why the trust in our police force is disappearing. I hope this horrible man spends the rest of his days unable to see any women at all, ever. this is very upsetting to read
What a useless country this place has become. Shameful.
>…18 months ago, in July 2021, after the murder of Sarah Everard, that Carrick faced an earlier claim of rape. He was arrested, but the Met did not view it as sufficiently serious to suspend him from duty.
(From the Guardian article on this case)
This is what I find really hard to get my head round. In my industry we suspend people in relation to much, much less serious allegations than this. It truly is jaw dropping to me that a police officer can be arrested having been accused of rape and his employers do not deem that serious enough to suspend him from duty.
I think this is the start of a lot of cops being outed as criminals. I reckon loads of victims will now feel safer coming forward.
Yesterday on Reddit there was a story about Police officers using foodbanks and everyone was up in arms about how terrible it was that the poor Police officers weren’t paid enough …. Today it’s “disband the police”, “they’re all rapists and murderers” ….. lol REDDIT Really is just the land of crappy takes and bipolar reaction to everything. The land of no middle ground or balanced opinions. Laughable
This is the kind of Shit cressida and the tories have sat on…
should arrest all those that helped him in anyway to hide these crimes or looked the other way
> Now the reporting restrictions have been lifted, the Guardian can reveal part of the until now secret reason Cressida Dick was ousted as Met commissioner in February 2022 by the London mayor, Sadiq Khan, was the Carrick scandal, as details emerged of his offending and possible Met errors.
Absolutely disgusting, especially while certain representatives within the Met were criticising the move. If they knew that this was on the cards, Dick getting the sack should have been the bare minimum.
The few bad apples is starting to look like a fucking orchard.
Utter sick weirdo. I hope he ‘falls’ down a stairwell in prison.
it’s rampant. it’s actually really fucking concerning that theees so many cases of police like this
Absolutely incredible that he was not uncovered sooner. Prime evidence as to the rotten core and culture of the Met.
Dissolve the Met and rebuild it from the ground up. It is not fit for purpose and does not have the confidence of the British people
This guy worked in the same division as the one who abducted and murdered Sarah Everard in lockdown. That division sounds rotten to the core.
He was nicknamed ‘bastard’. Like the other cop nicknamed ‘rapist’. Maybe the police should check cops with dodgy nicknames like ‘murderer’ and ‘arsonist’.
This guy is guilty of course, a string of awful crimes. But clearly this is a cultural issue and punishing each individual after the fact is not going to cut it any more. We need preventative action to address the culture of the Met Police, not just prison sentences for people who conform to the culture.
Why does he have much more hair in the artist rendering than in the mugshot?
And had 40+ allegations WHILE ON THE FORCE. THIS SERIAL RAPIST HAD A BADGE WHEN PEOPLE FUCKING KNEW.
My sister was old bill in the met for a couple years and she said all the armed police were creepy as fuck and had borderline personality disorders.
In my opinion, if found guitly and any appeals are unsuccessful then scum like this should be executed. Cue liberal outrage !
This is awful. The fact that he was nicknamed ‘Dave the bastard’ seems to me like other officers knew and were just complicit.
But when Sadiq Khan forced Cressida Dick out of her Commissioner role, we had the right wing media slamming him and crying over her dismissal.
Absolutely shameless that she protected officers like this at the public’s expense, then played victim when she was held to account.

This part was in [The Guardian’s report](https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/jan/16/metropolitan-police-officer-david-carrick-revealed-as-serial-rapist).
