  1. Well this was all about that, right? Otherwise the people having the recordings of this all would have made them public forever ago and not when the time arrived they decided they don’t want Boris anymore.

  2. He’s done.

    I don’t know who the Conservatives will pick as their leader but it’s clear Boris is done. The papers have the knives out, the Conservatives in Parliament are voting against him.

    The writings on the wall.

    It tolls for thee, Boris.

  3. > Asked whether he would call on Johnson to resign, Starmer said: “The prime minister needs to take a long, hard look at himself and ask himself whether he has the authority to take this country through the pandemic’

    He’s not a misbehaving child Kier. Kier’s background in Law has him spending so long trying to think what is the right thing to say, he ends up either saying nothing or nothing of any substance.

  4. Time to pick your poison:

    * Gove,
    * Patel,
    * Rabb,
    * Rees-Mogg, or
    * Truss
    * Edit: Sunak

    None of them exactly endearing prospects.

  5. This is bad for labour, with him in power during next election they can use all his fuck ups against him to overcome the newspapers.

    With a different person in charge they can just say that’s the old guy where all new and shiny…

  6. i’ve seen people on twitter and even here celebrating but i don’t think they realize that the rebellion is being spearheaded by those who are against mandatory vaccines and passports. for those against that sort of thing it’s great news though

    but ultimately its bad news for the lunatics in this sub who have a raging hard on for mandatory vaccines

  7. Every single Tory needs to just fuck off, yes BJ is the guy at the top but every single one of those grifting fucks are responsible for the shit show that has transpired. You can change the leader as often as you like but when a political party is this greedy and self serving the only thing that can happen is everything stays the same or it will get worse.

  8. Great so now we’ll get Sunak who has been priming himself for this since the pandemic started. Cosy Christmas photoshoots in his den with lighting made for Instagram. Championing himself as the giver of money and spoils in the form of furlough and self-employed grants.

    We’re all really going to be fucked when that billionaire is in charge.

    I said this when they got rid of Theresa May. The next one *will* be worse, and it applies again here too.

  9. The leadership challenge looks like it is being driven by the right of the party, including lots from the so called red wall. They are the most unpleasant part of the party, and there is a lot of in pleasant parts.

    These are the people who vote for cuts to childcare, bringing in voter Id, being able to remove citizenship from 6 million people but they won’t support public health measures.

    I worry that like when we all wanted to get rid of May what we got in place was worse.

    As a person who votes for another party I’m all for weakening their control but Johnson’s replacement could do a lot of damage in the 3 years they have left.

  10. All eyes on North Shropshire. The Tory candidate has been parachuted in from Birmingham, doesn’t know the area and has basically been told to shut up. Meanwhile Labour and the Lib Dems have been out and about getting a very warm response.

    Unfortunately those two cancelling each other out might mean the Tories hold the seat.

  11. They did this across the country during the election. Some of our tory candidates lived abroad. Thankfully they didn’t get in.

  12. Here we go. Boris is going to become a Tory scapegoat and every single politician remaining in the party is going to act like they had nothing to do with the party under Boris’s leadership

  13. Johnson’s time is up, the time he has left is just what is left to be revealed, and I would be majorly surprised if he was still PM come March.

  14. Please Rory…..come back to the fore.

    Strikes me as a genuine human, strong morals, and didn’t fuck a pig with the lads in his formative years
