Ken Bruce to leave BBC Radio 2 show after 31 years

  1. Speculation on my part here. However you don’t leave the most listened to radio show to join a station that not many people listen too unless there is a shed load of money on offer.

I personally think he is making a mistake as his voice is Radio2

  2. I think he’s seen the writing is on the wall. Radio 2 have been going hard attracting a younger audience (like me), and neglecting their older audience.

    Very sad though

  3. The station isn’t going a way I would call successful.

Zoe Ball is ineloquent and Scott Mills is uninventive. They aren’t fun to listen to.

  4. Agh, just Helen Thomas culling all the DJ’s to bring in the old 90’s Radio 1 crew like Scott Mills etc.
They are slowly making broadcast radio irrelevant and most people will switch to streaming music or podcasts.

It’s a shame as I liked Radio 2 but as I’m nearly 50 maybe I’m the demographic they are trying to shift. Nonetheless my daughter in her 20’s never ever listens to broadcast Radio and uses solely Apple Music / Spotify.

  5. His show is pretty much the only part of radio 2 I listen to, I was hopeful when Steve Wright left that the afternoon show would become listenable, but Scott Mills is shit.

I hope someone decent replaces Ken.

  6. All my favourite presenters at Radio 1 got too old and were pushed out, but then Radio 2 is mainly presented by OAPs, so I don’t want to listen to that either.

Where does a 30s-40s something go.
