wtf. That’s bad. I’ve a Vodafone 4g router that’s getting me 107 mbps. I’d cancel,
As long as you don’t live on a light house off the west coast, you should cancel.
It was the same for me in Amies st, Dublin 1, just in front of the IFSC. I changed to virgin and now I get 200. Vodafone broadband and eircom too are quite poor in the city centre as they don’t use fiber in many areas.
Depends on where your living if your in a built up area definitly enquire about, but a lot of country areas have pretty terrible Internet my parents barely get 2mb on a good day.
So your post from 2009 finally uploaded 👍
If you live in the boonies this is common
It depends where you live. I’m on 3 mobile broadband in the countryside near enough to a 4g tower and I get similar, sometimes higher, sometimes lower. I can work from home, use netflix, smart devices etc without issue. Do speed tests at different times as well just to check. https://coveragemap.comreg.ie/
These are the speeds I get with 48 (I’m in a bad location) but it’s €11 for 100gbs of data
You get what the equipment at the exchange and your physical line can handle. You would have been quoted speeds at the point of sale, what did they say you would get?
If this is ADSL, moving to eir might provide a slightly better service as they have access to better ports at the exchange but it wouldn’t be substantially better.
Often when any kind of issue is detected on the line they will drop the profile to 7/1. Check with Vodafone to see if your line can take more.
If it can’t then then virgin media is your only option for better wired broadband
I’m with Vodafone fibre. I pay 40/month and when I ran a speed test there I got 309Mb down and 47Mb up.. Depends on your line but I wanted to give contrast.
Depends on the area and the cable. Big town equals faster speeds and most likely fibre. Small town or countryside that seems about right for copper cable and far from the cab.
