More information on how companies are trying to screw over workers, please.

*”The leave year runs from April to March. “*
Seems legit.
Good stuff. I’ve been snaked out of a few days myself on this note. Always important to be informed on this stuff
You’re an awful lot older than I imagined, OP!
So many places try to pull this shit.
My company says holiday calendar runs Oct 1 to September 30th. They say, no holidays can be carried over but equally they look at it case by case….
Be the hokey sure isn’t that the law!
Well I’m saving this for the next time my employer tries to force me to use up my leave. I’ve bitterly “wasted” leave by sitting on my arse at home doing nothing for 2 years now because “you can’t carry over”.
Cunts, the lot of them.
Need to get all this lads videos posted here you wouldn’t believe what companies are getring away with.
Did you know if you get sick over your holidays and get a doctor cert that your work has to give you those holidays another time? Another of this lads gems.
This guy is a legend.
I trust him. That is a pretty big book after all

I actually quit a job over this so I’m delighted. I didn’t think it was illegal or anything at the time just found it very petty as it was only a couple of days and along with other things it was the final straw.
That’s the law, and that’s a fact
I feel like emailing my HR department this chaps Instagram account. Not say anything in the email. Just send it and I can gurantee heads will fkn roll
☝️ That’s the law, ✌️ and that’s a fact
Im in a minus already. I applaud people having holidays to carry over. Why do people not use their holidays ? I get 20 days a year. Need 3 or 4 for Christmas depending on the year so 16/17 to take per year, definitely not enough to carry over, unfortunately!
Not to argue his point, but Annual leave is accumulated at a fixed rate pro rata on your employment and hours worked, so if they say yearly leave has to be taken before 31st December that’s for a admin purposes only really, and to stop people from carrying over leave and not using it.
An employer could technically say the year starts in end of march and you accumulate your annual leave on that basis. You wouldn’t accumulate enough for your 2 weeks in spain come July, and be left with days to take in March and april that you might not want to take then.
With the amount of viral lawyers nowadays I know more about American laws than Irish
We need more guys like this for Irish law, preferably with a life expectancy than isn’t measured in minutes
The man should know what he’s talking about if he’s going to go on like that.
> The leave year runs from April to March. Many employers use the calendar year (January to December) instead of the official leave year to calculate your entitlement. Your employer should tell you when your leave year begins and ends.
I fucking knew it. I feel a sudden urge to text some old managers of mine.
This guy is actually the father of the late late meltdown man.
cause as its stands pat this is the last time you’ll see me in this building.
If Ronnie Drew were a solicitor…
This is the good social media can do
👑 you dropped this my good man
What is the story with companies only allowing you to carry over only five days at the end of Dec?
I guess Grogan would know about employer cons considering he was the legal adviser to (and public face of) Gama when they were paying workers €2 an hour.
That whole book can’t be Irish law. Did they cut out the rules and regulations or what?
I would think twice before taking any advice from this guy! Richard Grogan is well known, infamous in fact, throughout the legal profession for being unprofessional to the point of putting his clients at risk. He regularly posts misleading, and at times downright incorrect, employment law advice on social media.
If anything, you should question why someone in an extremely well-paid profession, known for charging by the minute, is offering free advice on social media!
Do yourself a favour, don’t take legal advice from a solicitor who posts on TikTok! And certainly not from Richard Grogan.
