My thoughts on the suspiciously timed “most royal obsessed town in ireland” story doing the rounds in all the Irish news publications today. The one which states that Mallow is “the most royal obsessed town”.
A quick search on Google Trends, the authoritive source for such search info. Shows that Mallow is in 41st position for trending searches for the search term “Royal family”. So there goes that theory.
On a side note; these stories usually popup whenever a royal has something to sell. And IMPO are a cynical marketing ploy by the “royal industry” to export their brand and fill their coffers with even more cash.
I stand with a large section of British society that abhors the privileged, attention-seeking and hereditary entitlement embodied by the royals.
Britain as a nation has so many positive cultural exports eg. Alan Turing, Issac Newton… I’d love to hear more about British heroes and less about a toxic cultural export like the Royal family.
