French union threatens to cut electricity to MPs, billionaires amid nationwide strike

  1. I used to find French culture kind of stuck up and and obnoxious, but the more I have lived the more I realized they have their priorities straight and while they might still be stuck and an obnoxious they are stuck up and obnoxious about the right things.

  2. Just so people understand what’s going on here: the average (special) retirement age for workers at EDF (the nations largest electricity producer) is 57,5 with a slow rise (in place) until 62 under their privileged retirement plan (régimes spéciaux de retraite) with big retirement benefits. This system is untenable long term with current life expectancies.
