I haven’t followed the news too closely, but if they’re going to tear down both that building and the adjacent one, good riddance. The city is desperately in need of more housing, and those two buildings were eyesores that could support giving more housing to the city. Even “luxury housing” will help, as 1) it’ll give higher tax income to a city that needs the money 2) will reduce upward price pressure on lower-end housing and 3) after some time, it’ll eventually no longer be considered luxury housing. Marzahn’s housing blocks, for example, were considered desirable at their construction time due to the amenities they had compared to communal housing.
