I was actually in the High Court yesterday at the same time as the family and saw them in the hallway. They look even more like a bunch of goobers in real life.
So he’ll get fired, appeal that somehow, lose the appeal and still be fired.
But my guess it that he’ll still keep turning up for work.
What then? Put him back in jail – seems to be what he wants. Financial sanctions – I doubt he has much to seize.
I notice David Quinn has been rearing his head to chime in. I wonder will The Iona institute be bankrolling such a “legal test of conscience” as he puts it.

I feel sorry for the HR guy having to deal with this mess. Even with their failure to secure an ex parte injunction, he’s still a long way from seeing the back of Burke and his family.
Burke will most likely be dismissed following the disciplinary hearing but will be able appeal the decision via internal procedures.
Assuming the internal appeal is unsuccessful, he can then take a case for unfair dismissal to the WRC.
If the Adjudicator finds in favour of the respondent, he’ll still have the option of appealing the decision to the Labour Court.
If he’s unsuccessful in the Labour Court, he can still appeal to the High Court on a point of law.
All of which will be utterly pointless, because even if the Adjudicator found in his favour and deemed the dismissal process to be procedurally flawed or unfair, the Adjudicator will have no choice but to take into account Burke’s behaviour throughout this process.
The maximum award for an Unfair Dismissal claim is two years salary (based on loss of earnings), but if the Adjudicator believes an employee’s behaviour/conduct contributed to their own dismissal, then that will reduce the award given.
So, the best case scenario for him is that he wins his case in the WRC, probably wins a relatively modest sum, and then will never work in education again following all of this nonsense.
He has utterly ruined his reputation and will probably never work in the teaching profession again.
Given his notoriety at this point (and that of his siblings), he’s probably not going to find it all that easy to find any other type of work either.
If your worst enemy set out to sabotage you, he’d struggle to fuck you over to the same degree.
I wonder if he realise that when all this blows over, he will be the only one left dealing with the fallout…
