  1. So, for some backstory.

Me and my gf don’t like Sweden very much any longer and have decided we want to move our lives to Norway instead. We both want to study in Norway, the problem being that her grades aren’t up to par, she wants to be a physician.

So, i was thinking if there’s any way to get admitted even though her grades are techniclly below the bar. Something like högskoleprovet in Sweden.

Tack och ha en bra dag.

  2. Cant help you with grades. But I fell into that fountain just after closing time drunk af in front of hundreds of people years back. Not good times.

  3. There is something called “realkompetanse” which basically means that as long as you have worked for at least 5 years in a full-time 100% position you can be admitted into universities even though you don’t meet the requirements. The educations that have other specific requirements like advanced math will ask you to provide proof that you have these requirements, but it’s really on a case to case basis. I got admitted into a university that requires advanced math even though I failed math and dropped out of school. I got admitted purely due to relevant work experience for 10 years.

Also keep in mind not everyone have this offer, so you have to check with the school first.

  4. Unless her grades are close to perfect, studying medicine in Norway is not an option. Medisine is THE most competitive program in Norway, and there is no shortcut. Most norwegian applicants spend years retaking higher secondary exams to get their grades high enough.

That being said, Oslo is most competitive, then Trondheim, followed by Bergen and then Tromsø. So it is slightly easier to get accepted in Tromsø.

  5. It’s possible to live in Norway and study in another Scandinavian country as well, so if she gets into a study in Sweden she could commute from Norway even though it’s a bit of a hassle (especially if the course doesn’t require a physical presence at all times and for instance lectures are posted online) 😊

  6. If you can dig up some Sámi ancestors you get in a separate quota which never seems to fill up. Good luck.
