Okay cool? Immigrants have more children in the short term but that’s known and not really necessarily a bad thing. The stats do clearly show that the moment that they have the Belgian nationality (or at least are second generation) their birth rate becomes comparable to that of the native Belgian population. If anything that should be seen as a triumph for our integration.
Pff, die statistieken moeten wel serieus geduid worden e. Slechte verstaanders zien enkel niet-Belgische achtergrond en zien alweer hun post-apocalyptische fantasieën van the great replacement bewaarheid worden.
Volgens hun definitie zou mijn nichtje in die statistieken geteld worden (mocht ze oud genoeg zijn om kinderen te krijgen). Nochtans heeft ze via haar vader een stamboom die eeuwen terug gaat in West-Vlaanderen. Veel gereplaced is er dus niet.

Het punt is dat de immigratie politiek/discussie vaak praat over de ‘low skilled’ arbeids migrant maar er zijn ook genoeg hoog opgeleide expats (onderzoekers, doktoren, etcetera) maar daar hoor je zelden iets over (want deze groep, kost immers zo goed als niets aan de staat en levert juist enkelt geld op).
Concreet voorbeeld van dat laatste punt was de Brexit discussie (toen ik daar woonde), waarbij het bureau voor statistiek aantoonde dat Europese migranten juist de enige inwoners groep waren die netto geld opleverde aan de Britse staatskas… maar dat paste niet in het verhaal dus dit werd verzwegen. Ik ben ook allochtoon. Mijn moeder heeft de eerste 2 maanden van haar leven in nederland gewoond maar haar grootmoeder was dan weer in belgie geboren.

So? My wife and kids are among this stat and she came here as an adult, financed her own studies and has since then had a high paying job with accompaning taxes.

Big deal here is how insanely low the first two numbers are. Expecting migrants not to have children at all is unrealistic so them being a significant part of the total then is hardly surprising.
That said, this thread is being a bit stupid. This kind of massive shift in demographics is a big deal when the average human is only slightly less tribal than the average chimpanzee. “So what” is just a stupid response.
Aangezien België nog geen 200 jaar bestaat is er geen Belg die géén “buitenlandse roots’ heeft.

Did you hear 77% of people like VRT? People answered the VRT questionnaire on the VRT website or came to the VRT truck. When I want to know about who likes Mc Donald’s I ask people ordering in Mc Donald’s. Wow 95% of people like Mc Donald’s!
My sister was also born to a mother from abroad, and I’m an immigrant too.

What does the number of ‘a woman had on average 1.54 children in 2020’ mean? What numbers are used here?
Is it: all Belgians who have a living mother / all Belgian women (16+, 18+…)?
Is there a cut off? Does my 90 yo great grandmother with 7 children still count? Does my 5yo niece count as childless?
Do they mean that a baby born in 2020 was on average the 1.54th baby for that mother?
So many questions!
