Personally I think this apology is all about Clarkson and very little to do with Markle. Contacting them on Christmas day is just more bad taste, rather than letting them just be a family and have a day free of shite he has to bring it back into their life. What an asshole.
Why anyone reads Clarkson’s column is beyond me, or why anyone would take anything he says seriously is also beyond me. However we live in an age where everyone seems to want to get really angry about anything the other side says, especially if it’s something that they wouldn’t have read or seen if it wasn’t for all the outrage.
Right, what can I get incandescent with rage about next?
That bit about how they didn’t do sexist jokes on top gear is one of the most bizarre and “I have black friends” things I’ve ever read. Well done, you didn’t make a women can’t park joke, really relevant here.
Heard he got cancelled by Amazon. I don’t know or really care what he said because I can’t stand any royal family member and find the concept of a royal bloodline to be ridiculous. I wouldn’t be the slightest bit surprised if it was just a storm in a teacup though.
Aha, so it was yesterday Jeremy that wrote it, not the Jeremy that woke up today.
Today Jeremy excused his Game of Thrones allusion but didn’t refer to his hatred. I suppose the low-flying shit must have obscured that.
What a fetid puce bell-end.
It was an offensive and tasteless column, and Clarkson is right to apologise, even if it is an exercise in saving his own skin.
That said, many of the criticisms levelled at the article were ludicrous.
Fair enough, a large part of understanding the context relates to one particular episode/chapter of Game of Thrones, so some misunderstandings by those who haven’t seen/read it or have forgotten it are reasonable.
But critiques that the guy is actually advocating violence against women are absurd. As were moronic comments that he thinks Markle is ‘as bad as Rose West’ or was ‘defending a serial killer’
If you’re incapable of interpreting the subtext of a Sun article, you really shouldn’t be plastering your foolish opinions around the internet. Go back to SATs level English class.
I don’t like the Markles but what Clarkson said was disgusting and pretty extreme. He’s said racist and offensive things before and that’s why he was sacked from top gear. This is an old man so he’s fully aware of what’s offensive or not by now. He knew exactly what he said because he wrote it and proof read it… and still felt it was fine to publish. Im not buying that he didn’t know how offensive his article would be, he knew exactly what he was doing.
What Clarkson said was abhorrent but it is slightly amusing that Harry and Meghan have rejected his apology. All it seems the two of them want is apologies but the first one to do so has been rejected. Not exactly gonna make the royal family remotely consider an apology, for it to then be publicly rejected.
