Home Secretary ‘won’t apologise’ to Holocaust survivor over ‘invasion’ rhetoric

  1. Just when you think the odious creeps in the Tory government have found rock bottom, they always find a way further down.

How hard is it to say “sorry for sounding like a Nazi”?

  2. I often hear the argument of the people coming over on the boats oh they aren’t refugees they are economic migrants. Somehow that makes it okay to call people a swarm. The language Suella Braverman uses is disgusting. They are human beings. Joan Salter The Holocaust Survivor who questioned the Home Secretary deserves respect and deserves to be listen to. When survivors of the Holocaust are calling you out on your language that sounds like Nazi rhetoric, you’re in the wrong Suella. Suella if you want to fix the situation maybe ensure we have a system in the place that allows people to seek asylum in the U.K while in other countries.

  3. Days after another Tory MP compared having to take a vaccine to being a victim of the holocaust. Definitely Labour that has a problem with anti-Semitism and trivializing of the holocaust though.

  4. The lack of outrage shows that it was never about the antisemitism in Labour. It was about centrist ideological purity and protecting the corrupt from economic reform like vampires from sunlight.

If Corbyn did this they’d be milking it for months. But Cruella Braverman? Doubt if we’ll ever see the story again.

  5. Of course she won’t apologise, where do you think they learnt it?!

The irony with immigrant hating children of immigrants is that if the uk has implemented their policies earlier they usually wouldn’t be here now. I always wonder how politicians like this square their views with their own family history or the fact that 40+ years ago this was exactly what the BNP and National Front would have been saying about their own parents.

  6. I’m completely surprised that a waste of oxygen like our Home Sec is *actually* a waste of oxygen.

  7. It was a figure of speech, which was held no lane of direction to The Jewish Community.

Invasion is used in many form even in the’Animal’ Kingdom.

What their went through The World will forever sympathies.

I believe in this sense we need to be less sensitive.

Perhaps the two ladies should meet.

  8. She doesn’t understand how what she said was offensive and would not care about causing offence if she did. She sees the world in her way and is not fussed if that contrasts with reality or if others perceive the world differently. She is dogmatic and refuses to change her mind or apologise when it is clear she is incorrect, exactly the sort of traits you do not want in a politician. You’d be better off getting an apology from actual Nazis at this point.

  9. Correct me if I’m wrong but the rhetoric may be off colour but doesn’t exactly align with the fact the migrants are being brought in and cared for with tax payers money? Not quite parallel to the nazis persecution of the Jews. How could anyone in good faith make that comparison when the Jews were not persecuted for arriving and unwanted and in the thousands for economic benefits. It’s so far away from what’s happening now its just bizarre. The Tories are terrible incompetent and the worst thing to happen to the country for decades, but calling them nazis is just lazy and downplays what the actual nazis did.

  10. And to think our taxes are paying this dick’eds wages! I don’t understand why no one’s kicking off to have her removed, I feel we have more power than led to believe, we pay their damn wages! We’re the employer!!!

  11. Apologists spouting the “well she didn’t mean it like that”, I mean come on how weak can the defence get before you realise the person you’re defending is reprehensible.

Feels similar to the people who jumped to the defence of Prince Andrew.

  12. The right suck balls yeah they do but if people on the left can’t see how this article is designed to rustle your jimmies then you are completely lost.

  13. Remember the outrage when Angela Rayner called Tories scum? They demanded apologies. The problem is that she was correct. If they won’t apologise for their rhetoric then its about time we call them what they are and stop apologising. They are scum and they are proving it day in day out.

    Edit: corrected autocorrect

  14. Stupid big nosed bitch, make sure you never get in an elevator with her, the thing will never change floors because the doors will never get a chance to close.

  15. Why should she? What does the rhetoric towards foreign nationals entering the country through means explicitly discouraged by the government have to do with commiting genocide against an ethnic group?

We can disagree with people without making ridiculous comparisons.

  16. Suella Braverman is a vile, fascist, racist who repeatedly crosses the line of what is acceptable behaviour or appropriate comment. She needs to be removed from office and permanently from any government position. She betrays our values and goes against everything that is decent.

  17. I forgot about this cunt tbh. She’s still there? Would have though she’d be sacked or resigned by now…

  18. Holocaust-esque, without empathy, unapologetic. Compared with Israel, even the tories come out smelling something like roses. I don’t like the way the holocaust card can be played so arbitrarily, when its target will suffer such reputation loss if it doesn’t yield to its criticisms & opinions. Bibi is currently in the process of reshaping the laws of Israel to suit his agenda – tones of nazi, no? How do you use the holocaust card on that one? Just save it for the gentiles? It’s the ultimate get out of jail free card.

I think the world badly needs more empathy, but politics is a different creature. Empathy driven policy isn’t necessarily going to be the best way to deal with problems; it’s better suited to the domestic & social spheres. It’s too easy to be super kind using other people’s money to garnish your profile. “Let’s be nice” Is a naive & foolish approach to politics.

The dinghy deluge needs containing, whether or not you dis/like immigrants is of no consequence whatsoever. Anger at the issue really is starting to feel like Weimar 30s, & I can see it boiling over in people I meet. Bringing up events from 80 years ago of a very different nature, only serve to confuse & add to the already high levels of hysteria. It’s comparing chalk & cheese. At some point this problem will be in Labour’s hands, perhaps; & they will have to deal with it somehow. There are no easy, kind options; someone must end up blemished, holding the buck. Like a Captain ordering a hatch closed with lives still in the compartment. It’s a shit call to make, but more lives would be lost not to do so. They’re politicians, not nursery teachers.

  19. Shouldn’t be crying Woolf now and playing in it. Was a very long time ago now. It’s definitely not the same what so ever.
