Gardaí probe overseas extremist links to far-right protests against asylum-seekers

  1. Wouldn’t be surprised.

Remember when the Irexit people were trying to hold talks and all of the speakers were Brits.

  2. Yea not at all surprising, its been very weird seeing all this culture war bullshit popping up here.

  3. Great, fuck the far right. But that doesn’t address why over 1300 undocumented migrants from countries outside of Ukraine were allowed into the country last year.

Want to get rid of the far right? Maybe come out with some answers and future plans for the influx of economic immigrants that the tax payer is funding. By refusing to address it pushes more people to their way of thinking.

EDIT: changed the term illegals to undocumented migrants.

  4. I think most people are in the middle when it comes to most issues. We all just want to get on with things and live our lives. Not everyone is locked into the online discussion, spending hours a day in an internet bubble. But the twitter world where you have to be extreme and every issue is a binary one, with good side Vs bad side (and everyone believes they’re on the good side) is creeping offline and people have stopped having good faith discussions with each other.

Those we don’t agree with we don’t attempt to bring them to our side. We don’t engage in a discussion to find common ground and understanding and just say “oh you’re with those lot with the disgusting and abhorrent views I can’t stand and so I don’t have to listen or talk to you. But like maybe most of the people aren’t with “them” and have genuine concerns, rightly or wrongly? We give people to the other side by pushing them there and the other side welcomes them with open arms. We just sit back scratching our heads and say “gee I wonder why that bad side is growing.”

  5. Christ some people just want to watch the world burn don’t they! If true it’s a sad statement for humanity and it’s probably gonna get worse the rich of the richest putting money behind hate speech when they could, I dunno fund research into solar panels, food crops, next generation medicine 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ but nope pouring millions into Facebook and Twitter ads to make you hate someone you never met🤷🏻‍♂️

  6. I’m actually terrified by this stuff. It’s so concerning to see the rise of the far-right here on our island.
What ever happened to Céad Míle Fáilte? Gone the way of the dodo, it seems.

As I type this, I am literally shaking. I am literally shaking right now! It is absolutely heartbreaking to see people who are literally Hitler walking around like in the Nazi times.

I just came home, cried into my pillow and then hugged my wife’s son tight. That is literally all I can do. How can we actually be in this situation in 2023, the current year?! We judge people even though the Irish travelled to all corners of the globe during the famine when we went to England, America, Pakistan, Nigeria, Georgia and Albania. Shame on us.

  7. I said this and you can see some of the comments on Thejournal/Twitter. They are not from Ireland and others are bot accounts. Also the Irish Freedom Party seems to have links to Nigel Farage etc so be wary of them and who funds them.

  8. Just by the two groups here. You’re either literally Hilter or your so angry by the hate being pushed that you do nothing but complain. The craziness of the left from years ago plus the doing nothing approach of the dail parties. which pushes people who want change towards the right cause the centre didn’t not hold and the left only care about purity of ideology.

  9. Sounds like a load of bullshit.
So they’re saying all of these protestors are brainwashed and none of them are capable of just being upset with the way things are…

Sounds like they’re just trying to justify using our own police force to investigate anyone who protests against the sate.

And just to be clear I’m not agreeing with these protests, but it frightens me how our government is handling it!

What happens when we all can agree on something and protest, theyl use the very same tactics.

  10. I love how the Gardaí are contacting the FBI on how to conduct psyops on the Irish people! It’s the only way to not be bigoted.

  11. I think the majority of protests are coming off in media as against asylum seekers but the reality is that people are unhappy about the policies and provision (or lack thereof). The politicians still aren’t listening. God forbid we are unhappy with their policy. We must he brainwashed. Get the guards to investigate whos funding the brainwashing?
When people were unhappy about the water charges that was taken at face value. Why can this not be?

What are we supposed to do write a strongly worded letter to the independent? Speak to local elected reps…. we’ve done it and they go on radio or TV and say ” a few right winger are unhappy”

  12. If you look at the Twitter Files releases, the powers that the guards are using to get information on far-right folks from social media – are 100% absolutely going to be usable (and get used) against people on the left as well.

  13. Ah sure Irish people could never have issues with it could they? Of course it’s the far right bogeyman from America duping us all into not wanting open borders and not wanting bogus asylum seekers or not wanting 160k refugees/asylum seekers alone coming into the country in the space of 2 years.

  14. It’s almost like the gov choose non-affluent areas to house undocumented immigrants on purpose.

That way if the locals don’t agree with the policy, the gov (supported by the ironically named NGOs and media) can simply label the protestors as idiot, far right, racist, uneducated, American influenced, Nazi, oiks.

If they placed the immigrants in affluent areas, it would be harder to label local resistance as being motivated by racism and stupidity, because the people that live there are *their people*. Plus they would just get their expensive barristers to block it from happening at all.

  15. Take it from a person who’s family suffered centuries of Russian imperialism and only recently got out from under the Russian boot, they will try to destroy/weaken any country not in line with them by any means possible. That includes through funding far right movements to incite social unrest and through spreading their propaganda.

Just look at any anti-Ukrainian movement in Europe and you will see the same things being repeated everywhere, word for word copy pasted lines from Russian propaganda.

They have armies of trolls posting their drivel so people sucked into by their nonsense think they are part of a ‘movement’. Social media makes this worse by trapping these brain washed people in a content bubble.
