A weeb is a type of person who really likes anime, i.e. Japanese cartoons.
For those who don’t know, a (not necessarily wrong) typical stereotype of anime is, they are full of soft-erotic stuffs, like [suggestive conversations](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkYCc6WGZiM&ab_channel=MakotoAmakawa), [cleavage shots](https://youtu.be/zdsMLyWkzyA?t=86), sometimes [sexualizations of young-looking girls](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKlDvxIQxyA&ab_channel=MakotoAmakawa) who may be said to be more than 100 years old.
A currently popular anime plot trend is, a useless/hopeless male or a luckily chosen one somehow becomes popular among girls, attracting girls to revolve around him and [get jealous for him](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2zbz_cpOYI&ab_channel=MichaelMoss).
For those interested, there’s [a weeb’s defense](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU8kxc8ssQU&ab_channel=TheAnimeMan).

I’m sure there’s weebs here, but probably something people keep for themselves really can’t say I know of or know anyone personally.
There are tons of weebs here. We are just normal upstanding citizens with jobs and lives. You wouldn’t really notice us or know we enjoy anime unless you hear us talk about it. We do talk about it however just like any other media we enjoy be it football, gaming, movies, podcasts, books etc.
Yes, weebs are seen as degenerates to most non-weebs.
I won’t say frowned upon, but snickered at maybe. Although I have to say that the hardcore weebs that fetichises lolis etc deserve all the scorn they get and then some. That is just pedophilia in disguise.
Outland in Bergen moved into a much bigger space a few months ago. The geek/nerd/weeb communities are growing and getting more acceptance and respect. You’ll find your kind in Norway. We normies will still be clueless, though.
Not only are they frowned upon, they are universally hated. Especially a dude known by his alias Sumocat is cringy asf. He keeps making [these unboxing videos](https://youtu.be/Ni2mewjzDDY).
Depends on your level of weeb. If you just enjoy anime nobody would care about that. If you walk around with cat ears and only talk about anime as if it’s your entire life, your social circles would probably be limited to other weebs.
Anime can be cool but if you make your whole personality a mix of characters you liked and your point of view on the world is governed by what show you last saw, i’ll fucking hate you with a passion.
But Samurai Champloo was pretty cool
Not as cringe as furries, but definitely looked upon in a similar way
This is the funniest post ever. What could I have done to expect two anime girls to be posted in the Norway sub today?
I mean maybe? But we have our conventions and nerd stores and generally don’t bother anyone with it so I don’t think anyone really cares beyond maybe thinking it’s a bit strange if you cover yourself in merch
I love how you generalize a whole community like that. I bet this wasn’t even a proper question and you just wanted to stir up drama.
