hasn’t that changed in recent years back in favour of the red squirrel? something to do with pine martins increasing in number.
Mind seeing a program about a guy in NE England who was going round shooting grey squirrels to try save the reds…. Was very weird but looking at map he did his job.
Red squirrels made a comeback since 2010. Much more common in the Midlands than they used to be for instance.
Centre Parcs in Longford is overrun with the cute fuckers.
In stephens green a few weeks ago and saw a squirrel that looked half grey and half red
Notable that they are absent from Wild Nephin. Must be remoteness.
I’m afraid we are seeing more grey than red in antrim where I live in Northern Ireland.
just wait lads.. the brits will invade to get some red squirrels /s
It’s the Shannon keeping the grey squirrels out of the west
I’ve seen red squirrels in Kilkewhich is shown grey on that 2010 map.
Needs a more recent map
Have heard of a few squirrels seen in Donegal actually. They’ve reached the hills finally.
Oddly, you will see red squrirrils in west mayo, one jumped out of a tree infront of me on a backroad, stared for 2 seconds, then ran back into teh rmtree
