Pre-paid VAT on orders from outside EU – I wonder if I will still have to pay that ~160kr PostNord fee when ordering from outside EU, see the image below.

  1. If the company pays the VAT over IOSS then you are not going to pay the fee to PostNord, as that fee is only for packages where PostNord is responsible for collecting VAT.

  2. Nope. Aliexpress does it all in advance. I’m been getting tons of stuff from there since they removed the 80kr limit and have never been charged the 160kr handling fee

  3. As long as you select Aliexpress shipping, then you’re not gonna pay anything. Not sure about other shipping methods.

  4. No, it is called IOSS (One stop shop) for payment of VAT. Many sites have it by now, but especially the cheap Chinese… Also Amazon US has it

  5. Haven’t been charged 160DKK a single time since the new system.

My packages might be stopped, but goes right through customs without any additional fees, as VAT is already paid. I’m ordering A LOT from AliExpress, so getting rid of the 80DKK limit has been a win/win in my case. I’d rather pay VAT on everything and not worry about the ridiculous fee or be limited to just buy items under 80DKK ☺️ Honestly I don’t even feel like I’m paying more, as the VAT is included in the prices shown (just like when I shop in any Danish store or webshop), so it’s not like I have to add 25% to the prices I see

There’s still import tax like there always was, but that limit is 1150DKK and tax depends on the items you buy. Some categories are 0%, others 12%, etc. I would assume that PostNord still charges the 160DKK fee to calculate and charge you for that.

  6. Aliexpress has no issues with import fees. But I wouldn’t buy Chinese jewelry. There’s a high risk it contains nickel which can cause allergy.

  7. People, people. VAT (moms) is not the same as duty (told). How AliExpress handles it, I do not know. But these two words are very often mixed up.
