The Royal family have no influence on politics in modern democratic Britain and if you believe that you’re an idiot.
Nothing story, happens all the time, over 1000 laws where vetted by the Queen over her reign. The last time Royal assent was withheld was on 11 March 1708, Queen Anne withheld royal assent on the advice of her ministers for fear that the proposed militia would be disloyal.
And yet people say the Royals have no power lol. If that were true MPs wouldn’t give a flying fudge about impacting Charles business and just pass the law.
The sovereign, and their lawyers, get told of ANY potential impacts and then they can work out a (one-sided) compromise.
The table is tilted for the Royals. It’s always been this way because they hold real power. People have just been tricked into thinking they don’t.
The Windsor family have altered over 1000 laws to benefit themselves.
Him and his mum have been meddling with the legislative process for decades. This is nothing new.
“We’ve taken back control of our democracy! Brexit means *we* write our laws and no-one else, if that’s alright with you your Majesty?
Relating to the 1000 or so laws they had to consent to.
Remember this isn’t assent – Consent is where the royal family is asked to consent to a bill usually before it’s made into law, or provide the government with alterations.
>The investigation uncovered evidence suggesting that she used the procedure to persuade government ministers to change a 1970s transparency law in order to conceal her private wealth from the public.
>
>**The government gave the Queen an exemption in a 2006 act to prevent themistreatment of animals, stopping inspectors from entering her private estates.**
What an absolutely lovely family, no impact on politics at all.
The fact that they keep changing the law of the land to fit them might explain why they don’t withhold assent.
