  1. Look at this [fucking wanker](https://i.imgur.com/Xtx7MtX.jpeg)…far more needs to be done to stop third-rate “rich” people using charity as a means to grift.

They are everywhere. I dug into the company reports for a “charity” that exists to set up an annual half marathon around a city.

The annual report listed their staff as consisting of a couple of basic admin type roles that would be on ~£20k, and 11 “directors”.

Their annual direct staffing costs were in excess of £1.5m, which puts each director on a 6 figure salary. For a part-time job arranging a run once a year.

  2. > it referred its concerns about “potential criminality” to the police

Hopefully they put in some effort to investigate this.

  3. Ever since I read an article in the ‘i’ in 2019 stating that the Charities Commission had discovered nearly half of all donations to organised charities in the UK are immediately misappropriated or are used fraudulently (a percentage, the article stated, the Charities Commission only expected to rise in future) I stopped giving to organised charities.

In the immortal words of Clement Attlee ‘Charity is a cold, grey, loveless thing. If a rich man truly wishes to help the poor he would pay his taxes gladly, not dole out money on a whim.’
