British-Iranian national Alireza Akbari ‘executed’ in Iran – report

  1. “UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly had described the death sentence as a “politically motivated act by a barbaric regime that has total disregard for human life”.

Do they say that when the US execute people?

  2. This will somehow be twisted by liberals as Britain not doing enough instead of Iran being pretty evil. Even the families usually say nothing against the Iranian government but feel free to mouth off against Britain.

  3. >Alireza Akbari was Iran’s former deputy defence minister

What the fuck is the backstory to him being arrested? It sounds to me as if he defected to Britain basically and then at some point around 2019 thought it would be a good idea to visit Iran!?! He must have known what the government there would do to him?

Just imagine if Ben Wallace defected to Russia or Iran, you can guarantee that he’d be arrested the moment he tried to set foot back in the UK. He’d probably end-up in prison and some right-wing loonies would be calling for him to face the firing squad.

Edit: Because nobody here could be bothered to actually give the backstory (probably because they’d rather pontificate) he actually went to Iran to advise the Iranian government about the nuclear deal so must have been invited.
