With the state of this subreddit you would think each 6 months has been worse than the last….people advising everyone not to go out in other threads. 2 or 3 vaccines down and 2 years later and loads in this sub think that you should avoid living your life anymore, for the foreseeable future.
>he predicted it could be “possibly 18 months” until a wide range of vaccines covers all variants of the coronavirus.
Variants as of now, or the X extra ones 18 months from now? The vaccinations were never going to stop mutations.
All you have to look at is the rate of hospitalisations, and this is pretty self-evident. Just looking at the number of infections, ignoring the other stats and panicking is not rational.
Honestly, I’m quite disappointed and sad. Yes, last five months were essentially normal and I couldn’t care less about masks, but for instance the international travel seems nowhere close to getting back to the old times, with the bans happening again and again. I just hoped vaccines will change things more, partially by hoping people will stop caring once almost everyone is vaccinated (though omicron does look kinda scary so I get why people care about that).
