this is actually remarkably impressive. jets of any form will always get a hard time from the eco protestors and climate activists, with a large degree of justification, I might add, so an attempt to lessen the impact of jet fuel carbons can only be a good thing, even for the protestors and activists.
Good on the RAF
Very cool from a technological showcase perspective, but despite the diesel like qualities of Jet A1 I find it hard to believe this blend can provide the same performance, across the same range of operating parameters.
It feels like something more suited to civil aviation where parameters and mission profiles are much more controlled and predictable.
Things like Flight 38 make me ponder how you possibly certify something like this with absolutely knowledge that its going to perform perfectly throughout any flight you may put a Eurofighter through
I’ll be honest, when it comes to the armed forces, environmental friendliness is pretty far down my list of concerns
Were they taxed on the chip fat (whereas they wouldn’t have been had they merely poured it down the sink)?
They’ll be confiscating iron railings next to smelt down.
Contrails are one of the main reasons why aviation emissions are more polluting than ground level emissions. Being able to massively reduce their impact is a huge step in the right direction while alternatives can be looked at.

Thought I was on r/okmatewanker for a second…
The bigger improvement with Sustainable Aviation Fuels are that [they have been shown to reduce contrails formations by 50-70%.](https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-dlr-study-finds-sustainable-aviation-fuel-can-reduce-contrails)
