If I’m not mistaken, didn’t we have on a certain show on RTÉ recently, a man who stabbed someone to death in Mountjoy? I’m being careful with my words but I saw some compelling evidence going around on Twitter. If so, we’re not very good at stigmatising our criminals OR punishing them.
Probably get away with anything under Sexual Assault by just wearing a suit to court.
And if he murders her, there’ll be hand-wringing, shock, and dismay, except there’ll be nothing shocking about it, it’s predictable. If the courts did their jobs properly, it could also be preventable.
