  1. Istanbul was Constantinople
    Now it’s Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it’s Turkish delight on a moonlit night

  2. Beautiful Byzantium.

Fun fact: Many think that calling it “Constantinople” instead of “Istanbul” makes Muslims triggered, which is not true since Muslims continued to call it “Kostantiniya”, the name was officially changed only after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish war of independence, therefore it is logical that the reason is nationalistic not religious.

Turks continued to call it “Ḳosṭanṭīnīye” until recently and in Algeria there is still a city called “Constantine”.
