So the state will spend €78,000,000 on advertising tourism. There is a €6,000,000,000 spend (taking a billion to mean 1000 million) from which the state recoups VAT, PRSI, PAYE, USC. Can we quantify the take from tourism for the state? Do the stakeholders pay towards the €78,000,000 state advertising? We know racing gets a state subsidy too. Any others not as well known?
Seems like a fairly solid return on investment there.
I expect they could achieve pretty much the same income with half the spend.
The biggest effect is good word of mouth, so improving the product should always come first.
Jamie-Lee O’Donnell is a ride.
Oh I’m so outraged!!!.. classic post on here. What’s the big whoop if it brings in more revenue?
Might help a bit by making it a wee bit cheaper to stay. Getting harder to visit the relatives year-on
