Irish actors front new €78m Tourism Ireland campaign

  1. So the state will spend €78,000,000 on advertising tourism. There is a €6,000,000,000 spend (taking a billion to mean 1000 million) from which the state recoups VAT, PRSI, PAYE, USC. Can we quantify the take from tourism for the state? Do the stakeholders pay towards the €78,000,000 state advertising? We know racing gets a state subsidy too. Any others not as well known?

  2. I expect they could achieve pretty much the same income with half the spend.

The biggest effect is good word of mouth, so improving the product should always come first.
