  1. “A TRAFFIC garda had part of his finger bitten off in a vicious attack in Ballymun on Friday.”

“The garda statement added that the officer was taken to James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown to be treated for his injuries, described as serious but **non-life threatening.**”

    You’d hope so lol

  2. A hefty 2 year prison sentence suspended for 3 years to come. That’ll teach the accused a lesson.

  3. Ah the poor youngster. He probably just got a part time job and he wants to get into GAA. He’s also thinking of doing a certificate course. The judge should order him to pay €50 to the poor box and let that be it.

  4. I keep seeing people claiming that crime has not gotten worse in Ireland.

But in the 80s and 90s there was not this type of violence towards the gardai. Back then, scrotes were afraid of the Gards. Now, it’s like a full-on assault because they know there will be no consequences. Back in the 80s and 90s there were still consequences.

  5. Be interesting to see how this goes. A scumbag with 100 prior convictions will get a slap on the hand and If it’s a tax paying, normal person, prison.

  6. The problem is the lack of facilities in the area. Only for the local library and badminton club I don’t know how many fingers I would have chomped.

  7. And the residents were protesting against immigrants a few weeks ago, moms are afraid to walk on the street… all these albinos turning the place into a dangerous neighbourhood /s

  8. The same people saying this is typical of Ballymun are on other threads saying we need the state to just build loads of social housing estates.

This is what happens when you don’t integrate social housing properly. It doesn’t work. Drugs, violence, gangs, crime etc.

Young people need positive role models. If they don’t get them they grow up to hate and fear Gardai and look at Government as an entity to drain for everything they can get.

  9. They can’t even carry a baton with them for situations like this. No wonder Gardai are leaving in their droves and aren’t joining up in the numbers like they used to.

These scumbags know the power is in their hands.

  10. God that’s absolutely rotten. The guards get a bad rap (from myself included) but they really don’t get paid enough. It’s no wonder they’re struggling to get people to do it, not to mention the poor training. In other countries it’s a highly sought after job but not here it seems.

  11. We are only a couple of incidents like this away from armed gardai. Horrendous to contemplate but not unjustified.

  12. if a dog did it, it would be destroyed before the day was done, anto does it and mental and moral gymnastics are done in court so as not to punish him
