Damn right. WTF are they doing? Why is government allowing it?
On a side note, I’ve been looking at buying a cheap small house somewhere rural and came across one that might suit. After some digging online I found a lot of the land surrounding it was sold by Coillte in recent years, and the locals aren’t allowed to know if the land will stay as protected biodiversity woodland. This went through the courts and the courts decided that the new owners don’t have to divulge that info.
Why is Aoibhinn Ní Shuilleabhain chairing it ?
Seems weird that people would think this will lead to a state forest sale. It all gives the gov. An easy out by saying this won’t be happening. Instead what will be happening is tax payer funds (Coillte works for the state) will be channelled into a private forestry fund for their benefit. Think of all those lean financial years when Coilltecwas not financially sustainable, and the future pension obligation. Meanwhile they’ll be working for private financial interests. This isn’t part of their mandate, and shouldn’t be. Pretty wild a Green Party minister would immediately veto this deal, let alone a Green Party Forestry Minister. Wild.
It’s all so corrupt. No real information in the article. Will they own the forestry? The land?? I think it’s time to rethink who we want running state forestry, coillte are a disgrace
