I finally caught COVID the other week, after three years of somehow managing to avoid it while working in healthcare. Overall, I have had worse colds, however I have never felt ill for so long after catching COVID. Instead of needing two or three days to feel better, it has taken me a good two weeks to feel normal again, and I am someone who is pretty damn fit and healthy.
Children may be less at risk than adults and their risk of death is next to zero, however that does not mean they are invulnerable and more should be done to roll out the vaccine to them. Countries like Spain and the US are vaccinating young children and adverse reactions have been very low. There is no reason we should not be looking at them and considering the same here, otherwise we risk seeing a generation where the workforce is dented by those still suffering from long COVID.
Where is the 71,000 figure from. Is it still self reported then extrapolated?
Every M.E. researcher on the planet said this would happen and if we didn’t protect children then we’d be stealing their future

I seriously doubt that almost 1/100 children have such crippling long covid they can’t attend school
