Want to keep more people in social care? Stop outsourcing it to private companies who do nothing but pay minimum wage, no sick pay, understaff their places, and cut as many corners as possible to cream off more profit.
Keep them under control of local councils.
Good on them. Baffles me as to why people stay in high pressure and responsibility jobs with shitty pay. Fuck striking, leave. Get a better hourly rate and you’ll have more spare time to pursue a cause that satisfies your ambitions to give back to the public.
Tories: “Don’t strike if you don’t like the play get better job
Care Workers “Okay then”

Yep, “leave social care and get a job, gran”…those were our words of advice and, those last 3 weeks of her life she earned more money than she ever had in the previous 90 years.
Let us not forget this problem was exacerbated by firing 40,000 care workers for not wanting to get the experimental jab.
Was a carer from 2016-2022. We’re all burnt out, over worked and fed up of the government taking money off of our service users who need it the most. On top of that, we’re the ones that get blamed if anything goes wrong, despite endless staff shortages. It is often downright dangerous as companies won’t bring in bank staff and expect whoever is there to share the extra responsibility. The job straight up is not worth minimum wage for the amount of responsibility given. I refuse to go back. It was ruining my physical and mental health and on top of that, I can barely afford to live.
More money and better conditions. Carers are treated like shit and that just makes the pay another kick in the teeth. Retail may not be glamorous and the public can still be rude to you, however even retail staff are treated with more respect and dignity than care workers are.
