We have one of those in our bathroom and it turns on and off the power to the shower, then you press the button in the shower to turn on the spray.
This surprised me when I moved to Ireland from North America. We don’t have this. Many showers here are power showers, using an electric switch to turn on the hot water. So you essentially use this to turn your shower on and off. Pull down and when the light comes on, your shower is on and will produce hot water. Pull down again to turn it off when you’re done.
I’m not a sparkle but these exist because switches are illegal in Irish bathrooms.
Spider switch. You pull that thing and it releases a load of spiders in a random location in your house.
