So I’ve used this tool for some years now and I kinda like it. You can answer a bunch of questions, and then it shows you, which candidated overlap most with you. Not perfect, but better than just choosing the SVP/SP list.

Zurich elections are in 2 weeks, go vote guys! The short one takes 5min and the long one 15min.

I’ll also use it for upcoming federal elections in fall.

  1. If you know nobody personally at least you can vote for the ones that vote like yourself. Can highly recommend smartvote, have used it since it started.

  2. Is this the one where politicians answer a bunch of questions and you can see how you match?

I’d love to see how they actually voted on past issues and use that as a reference. Between all the lobbyism and VR-Mandätlis, I have lost some trust..

  3. Last time I tried this I wanted to see how many different matches I could get but it was always the same top 3 politicians.

  4. I’m not in Zurich but I filled it out “just for fun”.

Concerningly in most election districts it puts GLP, EVP* or even Mitte canididates on top.

At least I’m still very reliable when it comes to having all the SVP gangsters arrayed at the bottom of the list.

    [*] I used to be a catholic, goddamnit :p

  5. As a Civics teacher I love it. And always make my students take it – they‘re often surprised (though I make sure to tell them, they can vote no matter what their results are.) And yes, sometimes I‘m surprised too. It‘s not perfect, but it gives you something to think about
