HMRC names three schemes linked to Mone’s husband as tax avoidance

  1. Surprise surprise the Tory cabal stealing, milking and exploiting the system (aka us the people) not sure if its more open with the press but the levels of corruption have just exploded now. British democracy used to be quite highly regarded but now It’s a joke.

  2. The HMRC know full well much of what is happening is – for all intents and purposes – tax ‘evasion’. But, alas, can do sweet f.a about it because successive ‘governments’ (cough, splutter) have deliberately maintained these ‘loopholes’ and hence their legality.

Your common or garden PAYEer is swimming heavily against the tide. They continue to pay taxes to make up for what the nations 1% avoid – either legally or illegally.

No wonder the rich and powerful did everything they could to ensure Corbyn never got into power😡

  3. Wow really. The Tories stealing money from the country in order to funnel it into their friends pockets?

    NEVER!

In other news water is wet.

  4. Y’all ever been approached by one of these accountants?

It’s quite ridiculous, I urge you to take the meeting if you are invited.

One scheme was where some accountant had found a loophole to do with poetry. So the people on the scheme would write poetry, publish 10 copies, and somehow that would magically give a deduction so you could save a huge amount of tax. He actually had shitty poetry written by millionaires sitting there.

Another one was linked to a famous rap artist who’s changed his stage name a few times. Supposedly you could spend a few hours a week critiquing his lyrics, and through a huge network of companies you’d get a tax deduction.

This was so obviously ridiculous none of my friends went for it. It’s very clear that the point is to legally pay less tax than you’re supposed to. Even my colleague who would stop at nothing to avoid tax (non-dom etc) decided it was just a legal form of fraud.

But go to the meeting if you’re invited, the schemes have this Rube Goldberg / bank heist feel to them.

Just to warn you, I heard of a guy who did one of these deals and has had his life turned upside down from it. It’s not even worth it from a purely financial point of view as you can’t spend the money, it’s in limbo for years.
