I’m in the US. I’d like to make my German friend his favorite cake: Erdbeerrolle. He is from northern Bavaria (Würzburg area) and recently sent me [a photo of the cake he likes](https://imgur.com/a/KNJ0CnJ) from a bakery near his hometown.

I can easily find tons of recipes for Erdbeerrolle online. I’m requesting help here for a recipe that:

1. Has the strawberries integrated into the filling like the cake in the picture (instead of being white cream filling with discrete pieces of chopped strawberry).

2. Is *most likely* to have the type of filling that my friend remembers from home. Some recipes I’ve read have pure whipped cream for the filling, some incorporate quark or other variations. If this is a regional difference, I’d like to go for the correct regional version. 🙂

It’s OK if the recipe is in German, I can follow a Google Translate version. I’m an experienced baker but this is not the type of thing I usually make, so I’ll make a practice cake first.

Any tips appreciated!

  1. It is not a regional difference, it varies by family, by taste, by who makes the cake. The filling can be whipped cream, cream cheese, custard, yogurt or a combination of all of this. It can have strawberry jam, cut strawberries, strawberry puree. It can have a lemony taste because lemon was added, or vanilla, or almond.

Go to chefkoch.de, type in Erdbeerrolle, use deepl for translation and pick any recipe you think sounds good or looks nice from the picture. There is not the one Erdbeerrolle specific to one region
